Episode 12
A STORY WRITTEN BY BRIGHT DANIEL
Mrs JONAS’S RESIDENT
All were still quiet looking at one another. Cassandra knew all fingers would point at her because she was the one with the book which could probably stop everything. But she was yet to know how to use the book perfectly and discover how to end this deadly mark that has taken over the city.
“Is obvious the love hunters are back” Cassandra broke the silence.
“But how is it possible?” Ruth asked holding her husband closely.
“The question is no more relevant” Daniel began. “What we should be asking is how to end it” he added then everybody stared at Cassandra even Daniel. “Honey, any idea?” he asked. Before Cassandra said anything, Grace bagged in without knocking then everybody’s eyes went to her. She wore a red tight trouser and a jacket which she left open. One could see a white singlet inside and her two breast standing like a hungry dick. On her feet were black high-heel shoes which matched with the colour of her hair. In her hand was a small gun which she began to put beside her waist.
“What are you doing with a gun?” Hector asked her.
“For hunters” Grace moved forward to him.
“What hunters?”
“Book hunters” Grace replied staring at Cassandra. Everybody became surprise.
“Book hunters?!” all shouted.
“Yes, one of them attacked me on my way coming and requested for the book” Grace explained. Immediately, Lawson brought out his gun then Ruth glanced at him and gradually left his side to Amaya and Mrs Jonas. “We are fighting two hunters now and the war has already begun” Grace added.
“The deadly mark is spiritual likewise the love hunters. So how can they be stopped?” Kelly asked.
“Yes, that’s true because is a curse” Nelikita supported. “Only the book hunters are visible and can hardly be killed with a weapon” she added.
“The question is why are we being attacked by these two hunters at the same time?” Lawson asked. Everybody looked at Cassandra who was still quiet listening to all of them. She pointed her lips forward and looked at the book on the centre table then slowly picked it up and opened it. A white Light shone from the book thereby making Daniel to adjust away from her. Cassandra began to read a particular page in Kalish, as she read, the white light began to turn red and her eyes gradually closed. She found herself spiritually moving in a dark lonely building. As she walked, she saw images of dragons on the wall and human skeletons on the floor. She got to a particular room where she saw an old woman sitted on a wooden chair turning her back on her. She was covered with black garment, nothing could be seen except the dangling chair and her head. “Francisco?” Cassandra called moving closer to the woman. “Francisco is that you?” she asked yet no response. Now she was closer to the chair and stretched her hand to touch the black garment, suddenly the chair turned by itself making Cassandra to move backward in fear. She couldn’t believe who she saw-her late mother. “Mother?”
“Protect the book!” the mother stood up sharply.
“The book? You should be talking about the curse of the deadly mark, the love hunters!”
“The love hunters want to capture the book too”
“Why?”
“Because they know only the book can stop the curse which they wouldn’t want to take place. So you must protect the book!”
“I thought i broke the curse at first. Why is it back again?”
“You broke the curse by applying a sand on the book. A blood of two innocent lovers was shed many years ago which brought about the curse. A blood was shed, Cassandra! And for the curse to be permanently broken, a blood is needed plus the book. That’s the indication of the red light from the book. A blood is needed, Cassandra!”
“How? Whose blood?” Cassandra asked seeing her mother vanished into the darkness..

Physically, back to the resident of Mrs Jonas, all watched Cassandra sweat furiously and the red light from the book gradually going down. Then Daniel slowly touched her saying, “Cassandra, are you alright?”
Cassandra opened her eyes and slowly closed the book. All waited for her to say something but Grace grew impatience and shouted, “Say something girl!”
“The love hunters are also the once hunting the book” Cassandra spoke up.
“Why?” Lawson asked.
“Because only the book can stop them” Cassandra looked at Hector and continued, “I guess that’s the same reason why they captured your stone just to make sure your powers remain inactive hence cannot save people or stop any hunter”
Hearing that, Hector angrily moved forward. “That can never happen except the stone is thrown into the fire!”
“Who knows whether it will?” Cassandra replied then everywhere became quiet again.
“So, how can we get the stone back?” Nelikita asked.
“I don’t know” Cassandra replied.
“We should be asking how to break the curse, motherfuckers!” Grace exclaimed.
“A blood is needed 4 it” Cassandra replied. Just then, a book hunter jumped down from the roof and Amaya screamed in a loud voice..
